antares
A name that comes from the Greek = Opposite to Ares (ares = war and Mars), it is a supergiant star (it has a mass 12 times that of our Sun and a diameter 700 times greater), the brightest of the constellation Scorpio, which shows that it is close to us (located approximately 550 light years from the solar system).
Blue stars are young, so their red color shows their maturity; In its evolution, it is estimated that in 10,000 years it will explode spectacularly to form a Supernova. It is the 16th brightest star in the night sky and towards spring it is the best time of year to observe it because it is when the star is in opposition to the Sun. At that time Antares rises at sunset and sets at dawn. Let’s come, stay with us and admire it from the tower!
